Project Rhino Charleston was founded by two local South Africans who have a deep affection for their homeland and empathy for the endangered rhinoceros and game rangers who protect them.
Fueled by rising demand in East Asia for the production of traditional Chinese medicine, poachers are the greatest threat facing rhino today. Despite growing awareness and efforts, rhino poaching continues on the rise in South Africa, with over 1,200 of the endangered animals killed last year.
